Experience and Awards

I now have 30+ years of professional experience in the photographic industry and 20+ years teaching and tutoring.

In 1988, I graduated from the Queensland College of Art (QCA) with distinctions and won the IAMBI Student Award for the highest grade in the technical course at QCA.

I also graduated from USQ Springfield with distinction in 2016 with a Bachelor of Applied Media. I received the Golden Chain award for being in the top 10 per cent of graduates that year.

My first teaching role began with Flying Arts in 2001 with a week-long 35mm B&W film photography workshop in Blackall for Queensland Flying Arts Inc. in combination with Arts West Queensland.

Students photographed Aboriginal cave paintings, the Qantas Museum and Stockman’s Hall of Fame. They produced a B&W exhibition in a temporary darkroom on location as a result.

Since then, I have travelled around regional Queensland, New South Wales, and New Zealand, teaching guided tours, conducting week-long workshops, and speaking as a guest at symposiums.

I also organise a small Photography group called the Toowoomba Shutterbugs, where I run classes, field trips, and chit-chat lunches in and around South East Queensland. Please email me to join on our Facebook page.
